Our last EFS conference was on 22 May 2024 – we celebrated 10 Years of EFS!
The theme was relational approaches to inclusion, and we had a range of wonderful speakers and workshops.

Lads Like Us
On a mission to educate a million professionals with their lived experience! Mike and Danny shared their lived experience and deep understanding of trauma, taking us on a rollercoaster of emotions whilst informing our practice for the better.
They will be spoke about the issues around trauma informed practice, professional curiosity and the life changing difference it can make. #askwhy
Anthony Benedict, Executive Head Teacher at Tameside's Pupil Referral Service
Anthony has been a teacher for over 25 years; part of his current role now includes trying to reduce exclusions. He has created an innovative outreach programme which focuses on a proactive, relational approach, which he is piloting in 13 primary schools.
Anthony discussed the process of turning theory into practice and how we can make our settings relationally inclusive; covering leadership, whole school training, student profiling, auditing tools, implementation planning and moving from a behaviour policy to a relational policy.
Training
All of our training courses are evidence based and will help your staff team to develop skills to support the children and young people in your setting. Delivered by qualified and experienced educational psychologists, you can be confident that our courses will give your staff a good understanding of the latest teaching and thinking on the topic as well as practical strategies and resources to use in school. They will benefit from handouts, ideas and tips to develop well-being in children and young people and leave them fully equipped to manage and support individual children and young people’s needs.
We have a number of existing courses immediately available to settings:
Attachment, this training focuses on:
- key concepts in relation to attachment theory,
- the ‘big asks’ for pupils with insecure attachment,
- strategies to support pupils,
- and the impact of working with insecurely attached children on adults.
Anxiety, this training focuses on:
- What is anxiety?
- The young person’s perspective,
- Signs and indicators to look out for,
- The link between feelings, thoughts and behaviour,
- Core approaches that staff can adopt to support children and young people
Bereavement and loss, this training focuses on:
- What do we mean by bereavement and loss?
- How might a child experience loss?
- Core approaches that staff can adopt to support children and young people
- Specific resources can be used in school
- Looking after your own wellbeing
Depression, this training focuses on:
- What is depression?
- Signs and indicators to look out for
- The young person’s perspective
- Core strategies and approaches that staff can adopt to support children and young people
Self-harm, this training focuses on:
- What is self harm?
- Why children and young people people may self harm
- The young person’s perspective
- Core approaches staff can adopt to support children and young people who self harm
- Specific resources that can be used to support children who self harm
Staff well-being, this training focuses on:
- Why is staff wellbeing important?
- Resilience Framework
- Supervision
- What can school do?
We can deliver our training courses at your setting or at a suitable local venue to you, to any number of staff. With notice, we can also deliver training on topics not listed above.
